About RWE & our culture

  • Our company culture is defined by a shared mission: driving the energy transition. We foster an inclusive, international environment where collaboration, open communication, and mutual support are valued. Everyone can contribute their ideas, feel heard, and be part of something meaningful. At RWE, you have the opportunity to make a real impact and grow both personally and professionally.

  • Our employees enjoy meaningful work in sustainable energy, exposure to cutting-edge technology like wind, solar & batteries. In addition to that, our employees value our positive work environment with good work-life balance. We highlight teamwork, innovation, and making a difference in the energy transition.

  • Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of how we work. We actively create spaces for dialogue and learning through webinars, podcasts, and events covering topics such as intercultural exchange, microaggressions, disability inclusion, and LGBTQIQ allyship. With over 20,000 colleagues worldwide from more than 80 nationalities, we make sure everyone feels respected and empowered to contribute.

  • The biggest challenge we face is also our greatest motivation: transforming our entire energy system to become climate-neutral. This means phasing out coal while massively expanding renewables and storage – all within ambitious timelines. Regulatory changes and market demands keep us agile, but we see these as opportunities to innovate and grow.

  • What sets us apart is our combination of global strength and local roots. We are one of the world’s largest renewable players, yet we remain strongly connected to local communities in Italy. Our integrated approach – from generation and storage to trading – together with a diverse and inclusive culture, makes RWE unique in the industry.

Application process

  • Please only use our online application platform for your application, which you can access from every job description by clicking on the "Apply now" button.

  • Yes, you are welcome to apply for multiple positions that match your skills and interests. We encourage you to review each job description carefully and submit a separate application for every role you are interested in. Our recruitment team will review your application for each position individually.

  • Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit a speculative application, as recruitment is managed independently by the various RWE Operating Companies. This means there is no central office that can review speculative d applications, forward them to the relevant departments, or ensure a smooth application process. We hope you will nevertheless find what you are looking for on our job board. Thank you for your understanding.

  • For your application, you will need to provide your contact details and upload your CV. A cover letter is not required but is encouraged.

You can upload your documents in various formats; however, we recommend using PDF files whenever possible. Please keep in mind:

    • Accepted formats include: .doc, .txt, .ppt, .pdf, .tif, .gif, .bmp, .jpg, .html
    • .zip files cannot be processed
    • The total size of all attachments must not exceed 5 MB
    • Hyperlinks, website links (e.g. to a LinkedIn profile), or active content in your CV may cause upload errors. We recommend removing such links or saving the CV as an image file where the text is non-editable.

Recruitment process

  • The application process typically takes between 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the position.

Here’s what you can expect at each stage:

    Online Application
Once you’ve identified a suitable position, please apply exclusively online on the RWE website using the “Apply now” button in the job description. Having your documents ready, the application will only take 3–5 minutes. Immediately after submitting your application, you’ll receive an automated confirmation of receipt. Our team will review your documents, and you can generally expect initial feedback within two weeks.

    Initial Screening Call with Recruiter
If your application matches what we're looking for, a recruiter will reach out to discuss your experience, motivation, and expectations. This is also your chance to ask questions about the role and the company, and to clarify any administrative details.

    Interview with the Hiring Manager
Next, you’ll be invited to an interview with the hiring manager, either virtually or on-site. This conversation is a two-way opportunity: while we learn more about your skills, experience, and fit for the role, you will also have the chance to gain deeper insights into the position, the team, and our way of working. In some cases, there may be a second interview, which typically provides the opportunity to meet additional team members and further explore how you would work together.

    Offer & Contracting
If both you and we feel it’s a good match, we’ll make you a formal offer and send you the employment contract.

  • To make the most of your interview, we recommend to:

    • Take some time to get to know RWE as an organisation by exploring our website and familiarising yourself with our core business, values, and culture.
    • Identify the specific RWE Operating Company (OpCo) you are applying to and its role within the wider RWE Group.
    • Carefully review the job description and consider how your experience matches the main requirements. Be ready to share specific examples that demonstrate your skills and achievements related to these points.
    • Reflect on how your current and past experiences relate to the role you are applying for.
    • Prepare thoughtful questions about the role, team structure, tools, and day-to-day work.
    • If your interview is virtual, please test your technical setup in advance and ensure you are in an environment free from distractions.
    • We look forward to getting to know you and hearing about the value you can bring to RWE!
  • Our onboarding process is specifically tailored to your role. Our goal is to make sure you quickly settle in, understand your responsibilities, and feel prepared to contribute successfully.

In addition, within the first few days of joining, you will also take part in an onboarding programme for all new employees. This provides an introduction to the organisation, our culture and values, and an overview of RWE’s business areas. It also offers the opportunity to meet other new colleagues, start building your internal network, and learn about the tools, processes, and resources that will support you in your role.

  • At any time, you have the option of tracking your application's status in your candidate profile. Alternatively, please always feel free to get in touch with the contact person listed in the job description.

  • We appreciate the time and effort you invest in your application and aim to inform all candidates of the outcome. If your application is not successful, you will receive a notification from us. Please understand that, due to the large number of applications, we may not always be able to provide detailed individual feedback. However, we value your interest in joining our team and encourage you to apply for other open or future opportunities within the organisation.

  • If you have further questions, please feel free to contact the person listed as the contact in the respective job posting.
